CIVILIZATIONISM – A NEW POLITICAL VALUE SYSTEM FOR OUR TIMES

CIVILIZATIONISM: AN
IDEOLOGY FOR OUR TIMES?

What do the last U.S. presidential elections, the Brexit vote, escalating political turmoil across Europe, and Middle East bloodshed, all have in common?

(1) With some ups and downs, human history has always been based on the evolution and advancement of our Civilization Level (CL).

(2) In today's world, as in throughout human history, not all civilizations can be considered the same; some are more advanced, some are less so.

(3) The CL of a society is not an abstract or relativist concept, it is an objective quality measurable by universal criteria of which the UN's Human Development Index (HDI) is a good example.

(4) Civilizationism is blind to racial, ethnic, or religious characteristics, and focuses only on measuring and evaluating a specific society's objective civilizational criteria.

(5) Every governing authority needs to be judged and evaluated by its primary responsibility and duty to raise and advance its society's CL.

(6) In the Western World: Pro-Civilizationism means protecting and advancing the Higher CL by way of opposing Multiculturalism and Pro-Immigration policies relative to Lower CL societies.

(7) In the Developing World: Pro-Civilizationism means raising the Lower CL by way of Secularist/Reformist regimes, even if implemented by necessarily authoritarian means and it falls short on the Democracy scale as per Western standards.

(8) In the Developing World: When Civilizationism and Democracy collide, Civilizationism should take precedence. Because if it doesn't, sooner or later you lose both.

(9) Avoid the pitfalls and fallacies of "Civilizational Projectionism" whereby features, values, and solutions that are applicable to the West's Higher CL societies -- such as parliamentary democracy, religious freedom, excessive liberties, etc. -- are promoted, applied or enforced as remedies for Lower CL societies, with highly destructive effects on all parties concerned.

(10) Stop viewing and evaluating policies from a prism of "Left vs. Right" or "Conservative vs. Liberal" politics, without reference to a particular society's CL. Start using a globally much more relevant "Pro-Civilizationist vs. Anti-Civilizationist" value system instead.
